Action on Ativan

PEOPLE pursuing a claim against John Wyeth, the manufacturers of the tranquilliser Ativan, hope to persuade the Legal Aid Board to reverse its recent decision not to continue its support.

A group of solicitors representing 1,200 cases say that if their appeal is unsuccessful, individuals will have their legal aid certificates withdrawn. The Board says there are too few cases to continue with litigation.

But Heather Park, 50, who says she is only just recovering after 25 years from the effects of Ativan, feels 'betrayed'. 'I am meeting my MP to ask him to support our appeal and I urge other plaintiffs to take similar action.'
