Dear Ray, Firstly, I greatly admire your efforts in supplying information and publicising this scandal. I think your website is excellent in every way. I am grateful to you and all the people who are actively working to make the whole truth available to the general public, regarding these evil evil drugs. When the true heroes of humanity are revealed you will be high among their number. With great gratitude, Larry Cross, March 27, 2002.
Ray, you will never know how much it means to me that you put together this web site about benzos. The first time I found it and read about the symptoms that benzos caused, I wept. I had been sick the entire 6 years on benzos and was literally at the end of my rope, because I just didn't know what to do to get better. I had no earthly idea that a legal drug existed that could cause this kind of havoc to a human being. I will tell you know that I was so sick on benzos that I'm not sure I could have survived many more years. All my symptoms were cardiac...which is strange since I have a wonderful heart and no one in my family had ever had heart problems. Even walking up steps caused my heart to pound out of my chest. Everyday I lived with horrible chest pain and heart palpitations and racing heart. All those are gone except for skipped heart beats, which occur with stress or after I eat. I really felt like the world's biggest idiot after making the connection via the knowledge on this site. How is it possible that doctors are completely and totally unaware of what benzos do? And why do they refuse to listen to people like me and other benzo victims? Thanks again for all you have done. Keep up the good work! Carol P, TN, USA.
I haven't visited your site for a year or so. I am very impressed by the thorough job you have done. Keep up the great work. Ray Baker MD, Assistant Clinical Professor, Faculty of Medicine, University of British Columbia, Canada, January 8, 2002.
Your work is much appreciated and no doubt has prevented suffering for many, many people. Take care of yourself. Rik R, January 5, 2002.
Dear Ray; I just wanted to say thank you to you for gathering this information and putting it out - the FAQ sheet on benzo withdrawal. When I found it, I was so overwhelmed with relief, and so amazed, I wondered in the night if it was an illusion or something because I could so relate, and it explained and noted all my bizarre and horrific symptoms I'd been fighting the last few months. JG, December 31, 2001.
The best site online for benzo information. When I began my taper in September of 2000, I emailed Ray Nimmo constantly. He's "user friendly," wise, funny and extremely well informed; one of my heroes. You'll want to bookmark this site. Bee, November 21, 2001.
I wanted to tell you what a wonderful job you are doing. Strange as it may seem, your unfortunate benzo experience has led you to create a site that is, to say the least, a big help, if not a lifesaver, to many, many people. So something good has come out of it. I hope that this at least is a comforting thought for you. I wish you the very, very best. Hilde Van E., Belgium, August 18, 2001.
Ray, I am sure you may know how many lives through your website you are touching and how many hopes and dreams you are saving. A professional with credentials could never put together such a website because of liability. Through your experience you are touching the world (literally) and doing so much good. Your website is very informative and without it I would not have become educated to the point where I have hope. JG, June 17, 2001.
Your site is quite large, and the last time I visited it, I couldn't get out of one particular room, (chuckle). Seriously, you have turned your lemon into lemonade. It is truly an impressive and helpful site. Jan, Texas, June 8, 2001.
Ray, You are right in EVERYTHING you say and as a third generation doctor I apologise unreservedly to you and those like you who may have been prescribed Valium and similar drugs where simple alternatives may have existed. Yes, by 1988 it was abundantly clear that these drugs had many, many dangers and very limited benefits for insomnia or anxiety patients. You are welcome to quote anything I have written to you on your web page, especially my small apology which is VERY real and heartfelt (and, I hope, meaningful). – Dr Andrew Byrne, General Practitioner, Drug and Alcohol, 75 Redfern Street, Redfern, New South Wales, 2016, Australia, Email: ajbyrne@ozemail.com.au – March 25, 2001.
